TRESTLEBOARD

January 2005

From The East

BRETHREN:

I would like to thank each and everyone of you for electing me your Worshipful Master for 2005. The Installation of Officers has concluded with most of the Officers installed in their stations. Several could not attend due to family activities or illness and will be installed at the next Stated meeting they attend. I'm asking for a volunteer to fill the Junior Steward chair, which will give us a full compliment of officers.

As your new Worshipful Master, I am issuing a challenge! I CHALLENGE everyone of you to bring in at least one new member petition this year. Growth is needed to sustain our Lodge. Do you know that everyone in the Officer line, except two people are Past Masters? We need more, make that NEW people filling the sidelines with the Past Masters. On behalf of the Lodge, I would like to say Thank you to the Past Masters. Without their attendance, Golden Lodge #50 would cease to exist.

I would like to express my personal thanks to WB Peter Warburton PM, for his efforts in setting up the Lodge and putting everything away for our meetings over the years.

Golden Lodge #50 now has a web site on the internet. Please visit www.goldenlodge50.org and let me know what you think. We are also the Ring Masters for the Nevada Masonic Web Ring, which I formed.

I wish WB Charlie Mowrey a speedy recovery from his injuries. I hope everyone had a Happy Holiday season and has a Happy and Prosperous New Year. I look forward to seeing you in Lodge.

Fraternally and on the Square,

JD Weiss
Worshipful Master

Brethren:

As the new year dawns, many are trying to find a way to expand the membership in Masonry. I would also like to see it expand, not only in our Lodge, but to all Masonry.

However, that does not seem to be the case though, and I'm afraid we must soon consider an alternative. Either we must expand our Lodge by new members, by accepting another Lodge whose membership is decreasing, or by accepting the ultimate fate, that of affiliating with another Lodge, which would mean giving up our charter.

We have for too long now been teetering on the brink of extinction. Our Lodge is not like a Lodge is supposed to be. The discourse between those who attend should be shared with others. Our Lodge is not really healthy and the real cure for that health is MEMBERS. You tell me how that is to be accomplished.

I, as your incoming Senior Warden, will be thinking long and harsd on this in the coming year. I would like to have some of you come up with ideas which will allow us to be healthy. I would rather serve as a member of a healthy Lodge, than as Master of a Lodge taken ill.

I feel that the Lodge should work with some precision and that makes us look better in the eyes of those who visit. Therefore, I will also take it upon myself to work with anyone who is having trouble with their work in the Lodge.

May God bless each of us during the coming year.

Fraternally and by the Leval,

Rick Davis PM
Senior Warden

From the Secretary's Desk

Brethren:

Well it is a new year and I hope it has been a good one for you. As for myself, the month of December wasn't the best as I fell and messed up my hip. Missed my first meeting since becoming a member of our Lodge. Thanks to all of you for having me as your Secretary in 2004 and having me continue in 2005. May 2005 see our Lodge grow and prosper, and you and yours have a great year.

See you in Lodge.

By the Quill and Heart,

Charlie N. Mowery PM
Secretary
