TRESTLEBOARD

February 2005

From The East

BRETHREN:

The snow is finally melting. There is only a little left on my street. Hopefully we won’t have to cancel another meeting due to winter weather. I spoke with M.W. Grand Master Michael F. Lintner and we will have to make up that meeting, as we are required to have 10 stated meetings each year. The Grand Lodge calendar shows us scheduled for our Official Visitation on 11 April. That doesn’t give us much time to learn our parts and be ready.

The Brethren and their Ladies are invited to attend Valentines Dinner. The lodge has reservations at the Liberty Bell on Virginia St. Sunday, 13 Feb. at 6 pm. Please let me know if you will attend, so I can get an accurate count. Please e-mail or call me at 775-722-7007.

We need new members to sustain our Lodge. Please remember my challenge. I‘m re-starting the 50/50 drawing prior to each meeting. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. One ticket will be drawn with half of the money going to the winner and the rest going to the Lodge. If you remember, we did this several years ago.

As a reminder, Golden Lodge #50 has it’s own home on the internet at www.goldenlodge50.org I still have a few more things to add, but it’s almost done. If you have access to e-mail, I’m requesting you Subscribe to the Lodge e-mail list. This mail list will be used as a supplement to the written Trestle Board. With it, we can send you notices and information in a timely manor. You can also send a message to the list. I have a Masonic Forum in the Bulletin Board on my personal web site. There is a link on the Lodge page.

As some of you already know, I was installed as Monarch of Chaman Grotto M.O.V.P.E.R. It is an honor to be sitting in the East for both Masonic organizations.

Chaman Grotto M.O.V.P.E.R. invites the 2005 Officers, Brethren and their Ladies to a Blue Lodge Night, Dinner & Dance on Saturday, 5 March in the Wadsworth Lodge #25 building on Pyramid Way in Sparks. Social hour starts at 6 pm and Dinner at 7 pm with dancing to follow. This occasion is to honor all the new Masters and Officers of Lodges in the area and for the Brethren to get acquainted. Most Worshipful H. Wayne Kingsley PGM, will be the guest speaker. Music will be provided by Johnny Star. The menu will include choice roast beef, twice baked potatoes, veggies and desert. Tickets are $19.50 per person and can be purchased from either myself or Junior Deacon Herbert Chandler.

Fraternally and on the Square,

JD Weiss
Worshipful Master

From the West

Brethren:

Here it is almost the second month of the new year & I feel I have shoveled enough snow to last a lifetime. I hope everyone else who has had to do the same thing is in good health & with no more aches & pains than normal I love the winter when the snow lays on the ground & covers all the imperfections. It seems almost like most of the things we see in our lives. A layer of something seemingly good which covers a multitude of that which is seemingly bad. However, it can always be worse. Plow the snow into large piles, sand the roads, & what do you end up with? People having trouble breathing because of an inversion layer keeping the "snog" near the valley floor. And if that's not enough, when it begins to clear, we have all the snow & sand mixed together making it more ugly than before. I guess it should be clear that we need to be careful what we wish for. Things could always be worse. There are those who revel in the snow even though it brought considerable pain to others. I hope it brought peace, joy, & beauty into your lives & made you quite glad you did not live in a Tsunami prone environment. We must be thankful for any grace which can be shed from above.

Fraternally and by the Leval,

Rick Davis PM
Senior Warden

Brethren:

As you know by now, I fell and have had to have a hip replacement. I hope I'll be able to get back to Lodge post haste, but in the mean time I will be taking care of Lodge business with the help of Brother Jim Duncan. Your Lodge Dues are due and for the few who have already taken care of this, thank you. Dues notices will be coming. Would be nice one year for all the dues to be sent in befor the next one is due. Sure would make it easier on the book work.

By the Quill and Heart,

Charlie N. Mowery PM
Secretary
